SOAP Laundry Lounge – San Antonio, Texas
SOAP Laundry Lounge rethinks the neighborhood laundromat. Housed in a former medical office building on Oblate Drive in Shearer Hills, just west of the Quarry in North Central San Antonio, the 5,500-square-foot space now pairs a full laundromat with a coffee bar and lounge.
Urbano Design & Build led the project from design through construction. Converting a medical office into a room that runs 64 commercial washers and dryers meant working the structure, the mechanical systems and the finishes as one problem rather than three. A bright tiled coffee counter, pendant lighting and lounge seating give customers a reason to stay, making SOAP as much a gathering place as a place to do laundry.
